Thank you, voters!

Thanks to you, the Delaware County Senior Services Levy passed, providing funding for in-home care services and community programs through 2023. Your support makes Delaware County a community where every person can thrive after 55.

HOW IS LEVY MONEY USED?

The senior services levy helps older adults in our community remain living safely in their own homes, where they want to be.

WHAT WILL IT COST MY FAMILY?

The additional cost to the taxpayer is $3.50 each year per $100,000 of property valuation—less than a penny a day.

THE POPULATION BOOM

Voting yes for the senior services levy allows us to keep pace with the rapid growth of our older population.

SAVE SENIOR SERVICES

The average in-home client is a 79-year-old widowed woman who lives alone.

Local in-home services provided through the senior services levy include Meals on Wheels, emergency response systems, personal care, home safety checks, care management, medical transportation, counseling, and more.

Top 5 Reasons to Vote YES

  1. Services made possible through this levy provide older adults and their families with choices that promote healthy aging and independence. These services help seniors remain living safely at home, where they want to be.
  2. Home care is a bargain compared to average nursing home costs, which can total more than $5,000 each month. In-home care is a more desirable and affordable alternative for taxpayers in our community.
  3. Senior service levies can last no longer than five years by state law and the current levy expires in 2018. In order for local in-home and community services to continue through 2023, voters must approve the levy this year.
  4. Our county’s 55 and older population more than doubled in the last census, the highest in the state. This phenomenal rate of growth will continue. The good news is that a coordinated system of services already is in place, and voting yes allows us to keep pace.
  5. A healthy aging population benefits our entire community. Many seniors are healthy, financially stable, and engaged in our community. They pay property and sales taxes, support local businesses, and volunteer in our schools, hospitals, and social service organizations.
