"I want to thank you for the wonderful help you gave me in getting my porch roof repaired. There was no way I could have gotten it fixed or repaired myself." ~Client who received home repair services "I am so impressed with your services. My most current homemaker is so efficient and pleasant to be around - she’s wonderful. My emergency call button gives me a feeling of security ...and my bath and safety rails are so very helpful." ~A Senior Choices client

Senior
services in Delaware County, Ohio, are provided by the Council for Older
Adults, a nonprofit organization which was organized in 1992 with a
simple mission: helping Delaware County become a better place to grow
older.
In-Home Services The Council's central goal is to help older people avoid nursing home placement and remain living independently in their own homes. As people age, they may need a little extra help to make independent living possible. Families and caregivers may be able to provide some of that assistance, but often if a source of help can't be found to satisfy any remaining needs, nursing home placement may be the only alternative. For example, an elderly person may simply need a midday meal while the family is at work, or some extra help with household chores to stave off nursing home placement. The Council for Older Adults offers a menu of services to help fill in the gaps. With a single phone call, a licensed social worker can provide a free in-home assessment and recommend the needed services, some of which might include:
Through professional, coordinated care, the Council strives to assist Delaware County's most frail citizens and help them live with independence and dignity. Activity Center The Council also maintains a vital Activity Center at the Center for Older Adults on Cheshire Road, which is managed by Senior Citizens Inc. The Activity Center's booming membership enjoys a wide variety of leisure, sports, health and wellness, and personal enrichment activities, as well as two on-site dining facilities.
